    ‘Humbled’ Gareth Bale Expresses His Pride After Being Awarded an MBE on the Queen’s Birthday

    “Deeply humbled,” says Wales captain Gareth Bale after receiving an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honors list. The star forward was noted for his services to football and charity after becoming the first UK player to lift the Champions League trophy on five occasions when Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in Paris on Saturday- his concluding participation for the Spanish champions. 

    Gareth Bale is arguably British football’s top export after a trophy-packed nine-year span at Real Madrid, which he joined for a then-world record price of a massive €85 million.

    Gareth Bale is “Deeply Humbled” On Receiving an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honors List

    On receiving the honor, Bale said,

    “Receiving an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday honors list is a very proud moment for my family and me. To be given this news as we prepare to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee makes it feel even more special.” 

    He further added,

    “I joined football academy at the age of nine, so the sport is a defining part of my identity. I recognize the privilege of being able to do what I love, and for all the incredible moments, experiences, achievements, and memories football has given me. I hope I have been able to give just as much back.” 

    Gareth Bale concluded by saying football is his whole life and he is deeply humbled to be recognized by the queen.

    James Milner Receives MBE too

    Liverpool star James Milner, who has spent about two decades in the Premier League, has also received an MBE. The 36-year-old midfielder was a part of the Red’s squad which lifted the FA Cup and Carabao cup this season but couldn’t hold the Premier League and Champions League titles.

    Former England and Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand were awarded an OBE too for his services to football and charity.
