Apple is working on an improved version of its most inexpensive iPhone, and the new iPhone SE 2022 might be released in the following weeks. While it isn’t the most thrilling update, a few things will be beneficial at the $399 price point of the iPhone SE.
We don’t expect any design modifications for the upcoming iteration of the iPhone SE. It’ll keep the same design as the current 2020 iPhone SE, based on the iPhone 8. The current iPhone SE comes in black, white, and (PRODUCT)RED; thus, the future device could come in similar colours.
It will have a 4.7-inch LCD with giant bezels and a Touch ID Home button, making it Apple’s most current iPhone with Touch ID still available. Face ID has been implemented on all previous iPhones, and there are reports that future iterations of the low-cost iPhone will as well, but not at this time.
The device’s back will be constructed of glass to allow for wireless charging, but it will not have MagSafe technology. The next iPhone SE, like previous versions, will be water and dust resistant to IP67 standards. Due to the lack of design updates, we don’t foresee any changes to the battery life; therefore, it will most likely remain the same.
The new iPhone SE’s main selling feature will be its 5G connectivity, with Apple bringing 5G speeds to a much more cheap iPhone. Currently, Apple’s most affordable 5G iPhone is the $599 iPhone 12 mini, but the iPhone SE will be far less expensive if reports are accurate.
According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it will be the most affordable 5G iPhone available, with connection speeds comparable to Apple’s iPhone 13 and 13 Pro versions. It’s worth noting that the fastest mmWave 5G speeds on the iPhone 13 models are limited to the United States, and this is likely to remain the same with the iPhone SE if it supports mmWave rates.
The current iPhone SE contains an A13 Bionic chip, and a newer, faster chip is slated in the 2022 generation. Apple may use the A15 chip, which would bring it on par with the iPhone 13 models, while the A14 has also been mentioned.
The same A13 processor utilised in the iPhone 11 models the previous September was incorporated in the 2020 iPhone SE, so we could see the same situation in 2022 with the new iPhone SE adopting the A15.
The latest iPhone SE has a battery life of 13 hours when watching films, eight hours streaming videos, and 40 hours listening to music. It also has rapid charging capabilities, allowing it to set to 50% in 30 minutes when using an 18W power adapter or higher.
The iPhone SE is expected to upgrade its camera, possibly adopting the iPhone 13’s new Wide-Angle camera. We don’t have any information; however, camera upgrades are in the works.
The new iPhone SE has a 7-megapixel front-facing camera and a 12-megapixel back camera with a single lens. To separate the new iPhone SE from the 2020 version, Apple may call it the iPhone SE 5G, but it could just call it the iPhone SE.
Although display analyst Ross Young speculated that the iPhone SE could be dubbed the ” iPhone SE Plus” despite the lack of a larger display, this appears improbable because the “Plus” moniker has traditionally suggested a larger screen size.
The 2022 iPhone SE is likely to have a starting price of $399, the same as the current 2020 model. Apple is preparing an event for early March, most likely on March 8. The iPhone SE, iPad Air, and at least one new Mac with an M1 Pro/Max CPU, most likely the Mac mini, will emphasise this presentation.
We’ve heard speculations of another low-cost iPhone, likely in the iPhone SE family, with an all-display design, and it’s anticipated to launch in 2023 or 2024. According to display analyst Ross Young, Apple is rumoured to be working on a giant iPhone SE with a 5.7 to a 6.1-inch display and a hole-punch camera. According to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, a larger version of the iPhone SE will be released in 2023, with an improved, larger display and 4GB RAM.
Kuo previously stated that an ” iPhone SE Plus” with a full-screen design, no Face ID, and a Touch ID fingerprint sensor embedded into the power button on the side of the smartphone would be released in 2019, but no such product was released. It’s possible that Apple planned to release the iPhone SE sooner but decided to postpone it.
