However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has recently renamed this award after legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand after India's terrific show in hockey at the Tokyo Olympics 2021. The men's hockey team ended India's 41 years wait for an Olympic medal in hockey, while the women's hockey team achieved their best-ever result at the Olympics by reaching the semi-finals. Modi said after both the Indian hockey team's memorable performances: "I congratulate everyone in the team for the win. You have paid the biggest homage to Major Dhyan Chand. And after getting inspired by you, I made the decision because I wanted to honour hockey." "You have done wonders. Until India wins a medal in hockey we don't get the feeling the country has won something in Olympics."
