Hades 2 Confirmed as Switch and Switch 2 Exclusive at Launch

Supergiant Games has confirmed that Hades 2 will be a timed console exclusive on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 and the original Nintendo Switch. The reveal comes hot on the heels of the game pulling the curtain back during April 2’s Nintendo Direct livestream, where we finally got to see the Switch 2 in action. The game will appear on Nintendo platforms when it finally debuts in version 1.0 on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Supergiant previously announced the second game, but in a Nintendo Creator’s Voice video, Supergiant reiterated that Hades 2 would launch on Nintendo’s consoles before hitting other platforms. They later updated their post on social media that the game would come to both Switch consoles at the same time as PC.

“Hades II v1.0 will launch simultaneously on our Early Access platforms (Steam and Epic Games Store), Nintendo Switch 2, and the original Nintendo Switch,” the developer wrote in a statement on Wednesday. While the official launch date for version 1.0 hasn’t been revealed, Supergiant mentioned that more details will be shared later this year. For now, Hades 2 is in early access on PC, having launched on May 6, 2024. It has already received strong feedback, maintaining a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with over 55,000 user reviews.

Although a release date for PlayStation or Xbox consoles hasn’t been confirmed, it’s expected that Hades 2 will follow the same release pattern as the original. The first Hades launched on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2020, with console versions for PlayStation and Xbox arriving in 2021. Hades 2 continues the mythological saga, this time following Melinoe, the Princess of the Underworld and sister to Zagreus, as she battles Chronos, the Titan of Time. The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to officially release on June 5, 2025, joining a growing lineup of third-party titles.
