The homecoming of Xavi to Camp Nou is as lovely as one can imagine, although it could have happened in better conditions. Barcelona has a number of injured players, and with no money in the bank, Joan Laporta will be unable to find speedy replacements for the new coach.
What about the Other Players
The wing is a particular source of concern for the Blaugrana. Xavi isn’t exactly spoilt for choice, with Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati both suffering from recurring ailments and Yusuf Demir still trying to find his feet. However, this could change in the near future.
Barcelona has been connected with Raheem Sterling for some months, and according to rumors, the Englishman has conveyed his wish to leave Manchester City to Pep Guardiola.
This follows a reduction in playing time this season and speculation that he is not in Pep’s long-term plans. As a result, Sterling is on the lookout for a loan, most likely in the hopes of proving his worth to Guardiola. And Barcelona could be one of the beneficiaries of this transaction.
Pursue a Loan Agreement
There have been rumors in the past that City prefers a permanent deal over a loan, even though they are unhappy with Sterling’s departure. Barça is utterly unable to do so due to a lack of funds.
They can, however, pursue a financing agreement that includes a purchase commitment for the winger. With about €60 million in their pre-sale budget, the club may set aside at least €45 million for Sterling, who is expected to command a high starting price.
However, Barcelona has been connected to a number of strikers this month, with rumors concerning Karim Adeyemi gaining traction. The German striker is expected to cost between €30 and €35 million. It would be impossible to go for both without offloading players in the summer.
