So great is the anticipation for GTA 6, that rival video game publishers are pushing back release plans lined up as far as Fall 2025, according to a recent Bloomberg report. They are waiting to see if Rockstar Games will hit its target for next year, or if the game will slip into 2026. Publishers are cautious about launching their titles too close to GTA 6, as the sheer scale of its release is expected to dominate the entertainment landscape. Also, many analysts expect GTA 6 to become the biggest entertainment launch in history, overshadowing not only its release schedules but the entire industry.

Since Take-Two announced GTA 6 would be out between April and September 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S in May, Rockstar Games has been mum on the game’s progress. There have been no significant updates since. Considering how ambitious the game is, it seems 2026 is still a chance for a delay, but for now, the release window still stands.

But fans who plan to play on PC may have to wait an even longer wait before they can enjoy GTA 6 in its best form. The PC version is likely but still unconfirmed. Users on all consoles, including the PS5 Pro, could also experience limitations. Not only that but the regular PlayStation 5 can maybe get 30 FPS out of the game at best, whereas even PS5 Pro would probably barely manage to sustain 60 FPS due to CPU bottleneck, which means that some sacrifices will have to be made in order for it to be a working experience across the board.
