Australian Legend Shane Warne passed away on March 4 and as per reports, he had suffered from a heart attack in Thailand at the age of 52. Cricket fans around the world were shocked by his demise and tweets started flooding the microblogging site in no time after the news broke out.
In his honour, Victorian Sports Minister Martin Pakula has confirmed that the Great Southern Stand at MCG will be renamed as Shane Warne stand.
“I don’t want to talk through talk about the renaming process other than to say I had a conversation with Dan a couple of hours ago and he’s exchanged messages with Shane’s brother and whilst they might be a technical process that would normally be gone through, sometimes you need to dispense with that,You need to respond in the way that I think the whole community would think is appropriate, ” said Pakula as quoted by the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Australian cricketer was born in Melbourne and had a spectacular cricketing career that one could only dream of. He achieved many milestones for Australia and was a nightmare to many batters. He played from 1992-2007.
He’s the second-highest wicket-taker in Test cricket with 708 scalps to his name behind the Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan (800).
Warne is the second bowler to have a four-digit wicket-taking after Murali at the highest level. Murali has 1347 wickets attached to his name whereas Warne had 1001 international wickets in his pocket. It is a noteworthy fact that Warne is the first bowler to grab 600 and 700 wicket scalps respectively.
