Kratos and Master Chief come Face-to-Face in New God of War PC Mod

By replacing Baldur with Master Chief from the Halo franchise, a God of War update changes the game’s opening fight into a spartan on spartan brawl. Twitter user @Kidskull51 released a video of Kratos and Spartan-117 exchanging fists in a customised game. Master Chief takes on the role of the invincible stranger in both the cutscenes and the actual combat. The MJOLNIR armour is still surrounded by several visual effects, such as Baldur’s blue aura and the air distortion when he heals. Jeremy Davies’ voiceover can be heard from behind the warrior’s visor throughout the battle.

God of War exposes fans to a version of Kratos who is older, wiser, and significantly slower to anger, set many years after the events of God of War’s first trilogy, which was first released for PlayStation 2 in 2005. His relative serenity is disrupted by a tattooed stranger — or, in the case of the mod, a fully armoured space soldier — who has built a home and started a family amid the frozen landscape of Midgard. Kratos and his son, Atreus, are now on a quest for answers and closure, travelling to the highest peak in all of the realms, with the Norse pantheon close behind.

For gamers, the fourth instalment of the God of War series was a smash hit. It was widely praised as an improvement and worthy successor to the franchise, earning it the 2018 Game of the Year award. This has heightened the excitement for God of War: Ragnarök, the sequel. On January 14, a PlayStation exclusive official port for God of War was made available to PC users. Even without mods, the PC edition of God of War has exclusive features and content like multiple shield skins, a new Kratos and Atreus armour set, and improved visual capabilities for supported devices.

God of War: Ragnarök will pick up three years after the events of God of War, which ended in 2018. As Fimbulwinter draws to a close, Kratos and his adolescent son, Atreus, look for a way to avert Ragnarök’s arrival. It will include both allies and opponents from the previous game, as well as characters who were mentioned but not shown in the previous game, such as Tr, the Norse God of War.

God of War is a video game that can be played on both the PlayStation and the PC. God of War: Ragnarök will be released exclusively on PlayStation in 2022.
