The goalkeeper thanked all his fans and said that the fans gave him everything, and he gave the fans everything and said that he and his fans did it together.

Gianluigi Buffon has decided to hang up his boots, and he announced the news of his retirement via Twitter. In a single sentence, Gianluigi Buffon bid adieu to the field which has been home to the team for nearly 3 decades. Throughout all these years, the Italian international has been phenomenal in his role, worked on continuously defending the goalpost, and eventually brought an end to his career with his boyhood club, Pharma.
In his illustrious career, Bufoon experienced several adventure quests, coming away from his hometown Canara. And arguably the greatest achievement of his career is lifting the World Cup in the year 2006. He conquered almost every single trophy that he came through except emerging victoriously for the UEFA Champions League trophy. Still, he will undoubtedly go down in the books as well as the greatest of all time.

If someone is to define the best part of Gianluigi Buffon’s career, then it would be the two decades of his playing for Juventus. With the Serie A giants, Buffon emerged victoriously on 10 Serie A titles in 10 seasons which is indeed an incredible record. Besides, he also won five Coppa Italia titles along with six Italian Supercoppa titles. And as mentioned, he always fell a bit short to win the Champions League, but reached the finals on three different occasions.
He started playing football for Pharma and debuted on a professional level at the age of 17 in the year, 1995. In 2001 he made a record-breaking transfer move to Juventus with a value of 52 million euros, which eventually made him the most expensive goalkeeper of his time.
His career even teacher a new height when his international stats come to the foray. Gianluigi Buffon proudly represented his country Italy, with record-breaking performances of 176. He embarked on a journey with the Azzurri in 1997, played nine major tournaments for his country from 1998 to 2016, and he has marked his name as one of the legends of the Italian football team. He has been a phenomenal goalkeeper on both club and international phases, and as mentioned before he indeed redefined the role of goalkeeper to a whole new level.
