The upcoming action RPG Game of Thrones: Kingsroad will be free to play on mobile, but those eager to play on Steam will need to pay. Developer Netmarble has unveiled that the title will go into early access on March 26 on Steam, offering a powerful original story taking place in the HBO series universe. Kingsroad will remain in early access for at least a month, unless it becomes free-to-play sooner, and unlike many early access titles that spend years in development, it should be released in that timeframe.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Early Access Launches March 26, Requires Paid Founder’s Pack on Steam
In Early Access, players will journey across Northern Westeros, interacting with characters such as Jon Snow, exploring key cities, taking on sidequests, and completing 50 chapters of the primary narrative. The full launch adds new regions, co-op dungeons, and other content, and more is planned for after launch. In order to play the game early, players need to buy a Founder’s Pack. For $25, you get a pack with a “Northern” outfit, a Jon Snow emoji pack, and 350 Iron Marks.
The $50 version includes a “premium battle pass,” additional outfits, additional horse mounts, and bonus currency, and the $90 pack offers everything from the lower pack and also adds a Direwolf mount, mount equipment, and an “upgraded battle pass.” Following Kingsroad’s full launch on mobile once it leaves early access, it will also feature full cross-play, as well as cross-progression, across platforms.
