    Frankfurt make it to the Champions League last 16 for the first time after putting up a sensational comeback against Sporting Lisbon

    After sealing a mind-blowing victory against Sporting Lisbon 2-1 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Frankfurt made it to the knockout stage of the Champions League.

    Brilliant comeback by Eintracht Frankfurt; seals its place in the knockouts

    Making it to the last 16 for the first time, Frankfurt knocked the Portuguese club out of the league. The latter only needed a point to advance, and winger Arthur Gomes’s kick at the far post in the 39th minute took them ahead. 

    The Europa League Champions Eintracht could hardly put up a show during the first half. But they came back excellent after the break, requiring a win to ensure a top-two finish.

    A handball by Sebastian Coats, the Sporting captain in the 62nd minute, gave Frankfurt a penalty. Daichi Kamada’s sharp spot-kick helped them level the game.

    The second goal in 10 minutes to get the victory

    The French star Renal Kolo Muani was amazing with the drill just after 10 minutes to power into the box completed their comeback and made it to the last 16, getting second place in Group D after Tottenham. 

    Benjamin Pavard and Eric Maxim Choup-Moting helped Bayern conclude with a perfect group stage after beating Internazionale 2-0 in group C.
