Ross Brawn the executive of Formula One stated that an agreement is in the place where the sprint races will be doubled to six in the next season. This will be a shortened format of the race where the one-third distance will go normal, which was introduced in July month at Silverstone. And this time, it will be introduced in the Brazilian Grand Prix month to administer the stage for the third and the concluding sprint event of the campaign. The other one took place in September month at Monza.
Brawn 66 confessed to traditional fans that have not been persuaded by the shakeup to the format of Formula 1, with qualifying bumped back to Friday. And the consequence of the sprint race setting the grid of the Grand Prix on Sunday, but he claimed the new idea was gained fame among the younger generation of this sport. He further added that a greater number of points might be available in the future, and at present, only the top 3 drivers are awarded.
Six sprints will be seen in Formula One
The Formula One executive also said that they have in principle agreed with the teams that they will look towards six sprint events in 2022. It will be a record-breaking 23 round calendar scheduled for 2022. He also added that their view is to take some progressive steps for the upcoming year, though they will not be any radical steps. This is because the new generation of cars is coming along and they have to see what impact it gives.
Hence they are a bit conservative for 2022 but still positive about the new concept and they are also very pleased to see that Formula One has been very brave to apply this idea and wants to see how it works. They will be discussing the same with the teams as well as the governing authority, i.e., the FIA.
