The future of VAR offside is set to be introduced in the 2022 Qatar World Cup. Premier League club, Chelsea will be the first English club to try out this new limb tracking technology of FIFA, which will make decisions much clearer as well as quicker. Various controversies had taken place for this VAR Offside, but it seems to have been coming to an end.
The system is semi-automated in place at the Club World Cup with the English club Chelsea due to play their semi-final on Wednesday with the FIFA all ready to launch this enhanced technology at the 2022 Qatar World Cup later this year and also in the domestic competitions including in the next season of the English Premier League.
The New Technology
In this new technology, 12 cameras will be installed under the roof of the stadium with the motive of tracking the ball and 29 points on each player which is set at a speed of 50 times a second. The technology plots the skeleton of the player, judging which part of that player’s body is the furthest forward.
The technology primarily forms a 3D graphical representation of that particular incident, in almost real-time, which is sent to the VAR and the decision will be displayed on the big screen, where everyone on and off the pitch can see.
A new Revolution in the Qatar World Cup
This technology will certainly make a revolution on the VAR technology, as match officials can judge offsides quickly and the fans will be shown a graphical replay as the camera will be able to move with the line of that incident.
Linesmen also will no longer have the difficulty to raise their flags for numerous marginal offsides. The technology is set to get launched at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and will also be shown in the Premier League season of 2023/24.
