One of the most divisive titles in the Fallout series, Fallout 76 has racked up over 21 million players and is appealing to fans to vote for it in the Steam Labor of Love Award. The game was released in 2018 but had a rocky start plagued with bugs; however, through regular updates and incremental enhancement, the game has come a long way since launch. Bethesda put a lot of work into fixing issues and adding new content over time, similar to No Man’s Sky’s post-launch rebound. The most impactful earnings, successive Milepost Zero updates added Legendary crafting and delivery quests, along with some other features.
Fallout 76 Reaches 21 Million Players, Seeks Nominations for Steam Labor of Love Award
Fallout 76 received over 50 free updates and is still growing its player base, the Fallout 76 team recently announced in a blog post. Over 21 million players, aka “Vault-dwellers” have unlocked the secrets of Appalachia, and this community is lively when it comes to helping shape the game with feedback on places like Reddit, X, and Discord. The Player Test Server is also available for players to provide direct feedback.
In celebration of this milestone, the developers are polishing systems and player load-outs that first appeared in the Locked & Loaded update. A new update called the Gleaming Depths is on the way on December 3 with a new raid, C.A.M.P. pets, Four-Star Legendaries, Player Titles, and other quality-of-life improvements. They have been doing sneak peeks of the new pets that players can add to their C.A.M.P.
Concluding their message, the team expressed gratitude for the community’s ongoing support, stating, “Throughout these six years, the community has always been at the forefront of our mind when implementing changes and introducing new content. We cannot thank you enough for your contributions and support! We look forward to how the Fallout 76 community will contribute to the game in the years to come.” In addition to celebrating the player milestone and upcoming update, the post encouraged fans to nominate Fallout 76 for the Steam Labor of Love Award, as voting for the Steam Awards has officially begun.
