COVID-19 has wreaked havoc across the globe and has forced us to do some of the things which have now become norms of our society. And the biggest effect of the pandemic was the adoption of the work from home principle.
This has resulted in most of the company’s making it mandatory for their employees to work away from their offices. However, now that we have ready vaccinations for the prevention of the virus and after a year and a half of the virus, the biggest question now is as to when will the normal work from office culture will be back in the world bringing employees back to the offices.
But, it seems that we are still a long way from returning to our normal lives which we were leaving before the outbreak. Earlier this month, Facebook made an announcement stating that it would require its US employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 when they return to the office.
However, Facebook has now delayed its return-to-office plans till early next year, because COVID is not ready to leave the US. The country has is now witnessing a surge in cases of the delta variant of COVID-19.
“Data, not dates, is what drives our approach for returning to the office. Given the recent health data showing rising Covid cases based on the Delta variant, our teams in the US will not be required to go back to the office until January 2022. We expect this to be the case for some countries outside of the US, as well. We continue to monitor the situation and work with experts to ensure our return to office plans prioritise everyone’s safety,”
The pandemic seems to be increasing not only in the US but in other countries as well, with many scientists estimating that some countries might experience the third wave of the virus to be more dangerous than the second wave. Be smart, wear masks in public places and maintain social distancing.
