Kiran Navgire started her journey with cricket in 2016. Earlier, she invested her time in javelin throw, shot put and relay running but 2016 was the year when she decided to put her heart and soul into the sport after winning multiple medals and trophies in athletics.
Kiran’s role model is none other than Captain Cool MS Dhoni. His calmness and hard-hitting abilities inspire her a lot. She has a different take on the game of cricket, she is much more confident if she smacks a six early in the innings. On the other hand, batters prefer to score runs with singles and doubles.
Kiran Navgire, 26-year-old, smashed 525 runs in the Senior Women’s T20 trophy 2022. She played for Nagaland since she wasn’t selected by her home state Nagaland.
Kiran Navgire’s record at the WT20 Challenge 2022
Kiran Navgire smashed 162 runs in just 76 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh in her debut game and became the first Indian to cross the 150-run mark in an individual inning in T20 cricket.
Against the defending champions Trailblazers, Nagaland had to chase a total of 191 runs. It looked difficult but with Navgire’s fastest half-century, the target seemed really small. Her dedication to the game was shown on her face. With a six, Kiran Navgire achieved her fastest half-century mark in 25 balls. She broke Shefali Verma’s record of the fastest half-century in 30 deliveries. It’s predicted that Navgire does have a bright future and can even represent India at an international level.
Navgire talked about her future plans “My aim is to guide India to a World Cup title and I am working hard to make it to the Indian team. I hope my performances will help,”
