Netherlands were one of the dark horses of the EUro 2020 tournament. After winning all three group matches, hopes were high on this Dutch team.

But sadly, they lost in the Round Of 16 to Czech Republic by a 2-0 margin after De Ligt was shown a red card. After getting knocked out of Euro 2020, the KNVB announced that it had parted ways with De Boer on 29th June.

Netherlands are now in the search for a new head coach and the current Ajaz boss Erik Ten Hag is one of the possible candidates to take over the job. Ten Hag has committed his future to Ajax but didn’t rule out a future move. He joined Ajax from Utrecht in December 2017 and won a total of five trophies since then.

Erik Ten Hag said when asked if he would be open to taking the vacant position: “That is not possible, because I signed with Ajax,”

“The Dutch national team is very attractive, especially because I have a history with 75% of the selection. They are good players and if they form a good team, you can achieve a lot with them.

“That would be very attractive, but that is not possible, because I work at Ajax.

“When those guys team up, they can perform incredibly well. Then they can compete with the best in the world. Who wouldn’t want to be a national coach one day? It’s an honourable job.”
