At Summer Game Fest 2025, Polish developer Techland confirmed that Dying Light: The Beast will launch on August 22 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Originally conceived as the second expansion for Dying Light 2, the project evolved into a standalone game after a 2023 leak impacted the developer’s plans.
Dying Light: The Beast Revealed, Coming August 22 to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S with New Gameplay Features
The game, which was first announced at the Gamescom 2024, sees the return of Kyle Crane, the protagonist from the first Dying Light, reprised by Roger Craig Smith. In this latest chapter of the Robert Hall epic, Crane has undergone thirteen years of experiments that have added to his arsenal, which now contains strong, beast-like rage powers. Players will confront deadly foes as they struggle with their strength evolving, with new brutal violence combat moves to bear, and the ability to travel with greater freedom than ever before.
As with previous titles, there seems to be a sharp difference between day and night gameplay. Days are spent exploring and scavenging the environment, while nights bring more dangerous zombies, forcing players to choose between fighting, fleeing, or hiding. First-person parkour returns to the franchise, along with the reintroduction of vehicles inspired by the Dying Light: The Following expansion. Set in the Castor Woods valley, a region inspired by the Swiss Alps, the game features diverse biomes including a tourist town, industrial areas, a national park, farmland, and swamps. Players can enjoy the full experience with up to four-player co-op and shared progression.
Pre-orders are now available for $59.99 and include the Harran Bundle, which offers various in-game items such as the Ultimate Survivor Outfit, Harran Combat Knife, Follower Crossbow, Jade’s Memory Pistol, and the Castor Woods Patrol vehicle. Additionally, owners of Dying Light 2: Ultimate Edition will receive Dying Light: The Beast along with the Harran Bundle for free, as that edition was originally intended to include this content as DLC.
