Dying Light 2, Techland’s parkour-heavy, open-world zombie brawler, will have a photo option and a new game plus mode soon. Dying Light 2’s main game designer Tymon Smektaa addressed the greatest requests fans have had since the game’s debut in February in a recent interview with Game Informer.
“Those are things that are on the table right now and that are being worked on,” Smektaa said when asked about photo mode, a new game plus mode, and more difficulty tiers.
Smektała continued: “I don’t want to go into too many specifics here… but very soon, people will start seeing those things being added in one form or another into the game.”
Smektaa also talked about Dying Light 2’s impending storey DLC, as well as some of the rumours he’s heard floating around the internet about what it would involve. Techland, it turns out, has a few surprises up its sleeve.
“We don’t want to fall into this repeating pattern where players will kind of know what to expect from us,” Smektała said.
“For example, the first story DLC that we have promised, I’ve seen a lot of speculation online about what it will be, and I can say confidently that they… weren’t close to the mark.”
Techland had promised fans that Dying Light 2 would be supported for at least five years following its debut. This statement from the developer offers new stories, places, and in-game events, as well as a hint that more things will become available at some point during this period.
While Dying Light 2 is yet to be released for the Nintendo Switch, the game has acquired a large following on other platforms since its initial release.
Dying Light 2 had 160,202 concurrent players on Steam when it first launched. To put this in perspective, that’s 3.5 times the all-time high of Dying Light 1 and 50% higher than Capcom’s Resident Evil Village.
