According to a statement released by Disney on Wednesday, the ad-supported tier of Disney Plus will cost $7.99 per month, the same as the ad-free plan’s existing price, and will be accessible starting on December 8. The cost of the ad-free plan will increase on that day and become $10.99 per month.
The ad-supported idea is hardly a surprise; Disney had already stated that it would launch in late 2022. Netflix also intends to introduce its own ad-supported tier, though it won’t likely do so until the beginning of 2023. There won’t be everything on Netflix’s tier when it debuts. If you choose Disney Plus’ ad tier, there may or may not be restrictions comparable to those mentioned above.
In order to provide viewers with a wonderful experience, the ad tier will initially feature “reduced ad load and frequency,” Disney CEO Bob Chapek stated on Wednesday during the company’s third quarter earnings call.
According to earlier this year’s rumours, Disney intends to maintain ad breaks of four minutes per hour. According to CFO Christine McCarthy, Disney also won’t place advertisements on child users’ profiles. In 2023, the company plans to take the ad tier global.
The Disney Plus ad tier cannot be purchased on an annual basis; this option is only available if you pay more for no advertisements. The annual subscription fee will increase from $79.99 to $109.99.
