Karim Benzema and Robert Lewandowski both won awards at the Ballon d’Or ceremony in Paris on Monday night, the Real Madrid man took the 2022 Ballon d’Or trophy and while Barcelona striker received the Gerd Muller Prize.
There were many anecdotes from the celebration, including a debate about two players’ watches when social media users noticed they were accessorized in very different wristwears.
Benzema’s wears the world’s most complicated watch
For Benzema, he came out with a Richard Mille RM 65-01. This watch is considered the most complicated timepiece of the brand.
According to GQ, it took him five years of testing to bring this watch to market. This is because with the highest precision he incorporates a high-frequency balance which is capable of measuring within 0.1 seconds with extreme precision.
“The culmination of some five years of development, this automatic split-seconds chronograph is the most complex timepiece ever to leave the Richard Mille workshops,” was stated by the brand.
“This model fully embodies the brand’s technical approach thanks to the combination of several additional functions, a very specific architecture and an extremely high-end aesthetic.”
“All in all, a fabulous challenge of mechanical watchmaking that called for patience, technicity and utter perseverance.”
And of course it did not come cheap, it’s worth 500,000 euros.
Lewandowski was seen sporting a cheaper watch having the previous one stolen
By contrast, on Monday Lewandowski was wearing a fairly cheap watch on his wrist, labeled a €60 Casio watch.
The Polish player previously had his €70,000 Patek Philippe watch stolen in a high-profile incident at the entrance of a Barcelona sports complex earlier in the season.
