Resolution Games has announced that Demeo x DUNGEONS & DRAGONS: Battlemarked, a digital tabletop fantasy adventure set in the Forgotten Realms, will be released later this year on PC, PlayStation 5, and VR platforms including SteamVR, Meta Horizon, and PSVR2. This new game is a continuation of their previous outing with Demeo, but here, there’s a greater emphasis on story to go along with its tactical action.

The company’s founder and CEO, Tommy Palm, said Demeo focuses on tactical combat, while Battlemarked seeks to equally balance story and action. The game has been improved with intense cutscenes, deeper dialogue, and significant player decisions. This, says Palm, is a new generation for the Demeo ARPGS, a much more narrative-driven adventure. To sharpen the storytelling, Resolution Games brought on board Matt Sernett, a world-famous narrative designer, to head up story development.
Sernett is well-known for his work on the Dungeons & Dragons tabletop game and classic D&D video games such as Baldur’s Gate, Baldur’s Gate II, and Icewind Dale. More recently, he contributed to the narrative of Bungie’s Destiny 2. His expertise is expected to add authenticity and depth to the game’s lore. Sernett shared that the game’s first adventure is set in familiar D&D locations like Neverwinter Wood, Cragmaw Castle, and Mount Hotenow. He described these places as perfect starting points that immerse players in the rich, dangerous, and magical world of Dungeons & Dragons.
For fans of the tabletop game, this integration of iconic settings and characters will make Battlemarked an engaging new way to experience the beloved franchise. Additionally, another D&D game is currently in development by Giant Skull, a new studio led by Stig Asmussen, the former director of God of War and Star Wars Jedi. That title is planned to be a single-player action-adventure, expanding the D&D universe further across different gameplay styles.
