Delhi Capitals secured a big win over Kolkata Knight Riders who have been in impressive form this season. It was a team effort by DC in front of which the knights were unable to stand for long, with the Capitals securing the victory. They put up a big score of 215 for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs, and got their opposition out in 171 runs in 19.4 overs, thus gaining the victory by 44 runs. Here are three facts to consider which led DC to victory against KKR.
Brilliant performance by the top order
The first thing that led Delhi Capitals to score a big score was the brilliant performance of the top-order batsmen. Both the openers played a good knock including Prithvi Shaw and David Warner, scoring 51 of 29 and 61 of 45 respectively. Captain Rishabh Pant came to bat at number 3, and also played a good inning of 27 of 14 deliveries, including 2 fours and 2 sixes.
Good Finish by the Lower Middle Order
After the top order was gone, KKR seemed to have gained control in the match, and they gradually started to limit DC’s current run rate. However, two lower middle-order batsmen, including Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur finished the first innings well, with them registering 22 runs off 14 balls and 29 runs of 11 balls respectively. For them, Delhi was able to reach above the 200 mark and put up 215 on the scoreboard.
Delhi Capitals’ Impressive bowling
Delhi Capitals also impressed in their bowling, as ex-KKR star Kuldeep Yadav picked up 4 wickets, along with Khaleel Ahmed picking up 3 wickets. The DC bowlers did their job well and got KKR all out in 171 runs. Though at some point it seemed like KKR was taking control as Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century, Delhi Capitals didn’t allow it to take control further.
