Cristiano Ronaldo has hit back at the media amidst speculation about his future. The Manchester United forward commented on a post that suggested Jorge Mendes was unhappy following his meeting with the board and that the player was adamant on leaving the club.

“Impossible not to talk about me one day. Otherwise the press makes no money. You know that if you don’t lie you can’t get people’s attention. Keep going that one day you got some news right,” the 37-year-old wrote.

But, he is now back in the city and is preparing ahead of the new season. A shocking move to Atletico Madrid was rumoured most recently. But both the fans and the president of the club have ruled out a transfer for Real Madrid’s all-time highest goalscorer.

Despite Ronaldo stating that the media is lying, his future remains up in the air. His agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to find a solution and is up for negotiating a pay cut up to 30% for his client to secure a move away.

The player denied rumours of a move last summer as well, before eventually leaving Juventus to rejoin Manchester United.
