Control 2 has officially entered full production, marking it as Remedy Entertainment’s third project to reach this stage. The company confirmed the news in its latest annual report. In addition to the new title, the sequel to the 2020 action-adventure game has now entered full development alongside FBC: Firebreak, a co-op game set in the Control universe (formerly known as Project Condor), and the Max Payne 1&2 Remake which entered full production last August.

While the report also confirms this major milestone, it does not offer any new information on the upcoming game. Remedy claims Control 2 will be powered by the studio’s own Northlight engine, with aims to “take a big leap forward in the action and storytelling” — a hallmark of the developer’s previous works. Control 2 was teased in Alan Wake 2’s The Lake House DLC, which was released last year, as part of the interconnected universe Remedy is building. The inclusion added more content that aligned with the base game’s offerings but was specifically aimed at fans of the Remedy Connected Universe.
The Lake House, for example, retained the eerie atmosphere and rampantly good narrative pacing that defined Alan Wake 2. But its short length and absence of significant new mechanics meant it was a must-play only for the dedicated rather than the casual fans. With Control 2 now in full-blown production, Remedy is doubling down on its signature mix of cinematic storytelling and action-driven gameplay.
The studio hasn’t shared much about the sequel, including its setting, its characters, or any new gameplay innovations, but with Remedy’s track record, expectations are high. Control 2 is currently in development for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. A release window has not yet been announced, but with full production now underway, fans can expect more updates in the near future.
