Indian cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara smashed a century in the Royal London One- Day Cup 2022 tournament. He mustered 174 runs in just 131 balls hitting 20 fours and five sixes against Sussex at the County Ground on Sunday.
He enjoyed an outing in England after giving a great performance in the red-ball format. His next focus will be on the white-ball.
He surpassed the 100-run mark in just 103 balls and hit 74 runs in 27 balls that lead Sussex to 378/6. This is his second century in a row, he smashed 107 runs in 79 deliveries in the previous game against Warwickshire.
He’s the skipper of Sussex substituting injured player Tom Haines. He made the decision to join Sussex after he remained unsold in the Indian premiere League’s mega auction. Pujara is the leading scorer for Sussex in County. He has mustered a total of 1094 runs in eight matches at an average of 109.40. His performance helped him make a comeback to the Indian red0ball team.
Pujara scored 367 runs in just five matches at an average of 91.75 and at a strike rate of 120.72. Before this innings, he mustered 4688 runs in 107 List-A matches with an average of 54.56 but played only five ODI games.
It is to be noted that Sussex are at the bottom of the charts of the Royal London One- Day Cup Division. They had two wins and two defeats so far in the game. Pujara’s game and Tom Clark ‘s 104 runs helped the team muster 378 runs while batting first. Aristides, the right arm pacer scalped four wickets that reduced Surrey to 55/4 in just 11 overs. It was a big win against Surrey and it will put Sussex at the top position. At the moment, they are having a run rate of 0.860.
