Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta might not be allowed to leave Chelsea and join Barcelona this summer. The two Spaniards have expressed their desire to leave the club and return to their home country to be close to their family and friends, being in the final years of their career.

But due to the recent actions of Barcelona in the transfer market, hijacking transfers for both Raphinha and Jules Kounde, the Blues are reluctant to do business with them. Especially considering that they signed Andreas Christensen for free a month ago.

Chelsea unwilling to let Spanish duo leave for Camp Nou

Azpilicueta is the club captain, and has been with Chelsea for over a decade. He is the only player to have lifted every trophy with the club and is in the twilight of his playing days. Chelsea are demanding a £10 million fee for him, given that he has one year remaining on his contract.

But, Barcelona want a cut-price deal for both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso. Thomas Tuchel recently expressed his frustration over the matter, and indicated that it won’t be easy for the La Liga side to sign their defenders. He also indicated that a lot of players want to leave, which includes the two in subject, and can hamper overall performances.

It now remains to be seen whether the two senior players will push for an exit or will stay on for another season.
