In a small teaser film aired at the end of the Capcom Pro Tour esports event, Capcom unveiled Street Fighter 6. It’s the first official confirmation of the fighting game sequel, even though it’s been in development for quite some time.
The trailer is light on details, with no word on when Street Fighter 6 will be released or which platforms it will be available on. More information will be released in “summer 2022,” according to Capcom.
The clip features series legend Ryu facing off against Luke, the Street Fighter cast’s newest member. Luke was added to Street Fighter 5 in 2021, with Capcom promising that he was “a glimpse into the franchise’s future” at the time.
Street Fighter 6 was supposed to be released in the third quarter of 2022, according to a Capcom data breach from 2020, although plans may have changed since then.
Capcom has also revealed Capcom Fighting Collection, a new classic fighting game compilation that will be available on June 24 for Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
For fighting game enthusiasts, the most notable aspect of Capcom Fighting Collection is the inclusion of all five Darkstalkers games, two of which are being released for the first time outside of Japan. On the PlayStation Blog, Capcom has published an informative primer for the series.
The rest of the collection follows in the same cultish style, with Red Earth, which makes its debut appearance outside of arcades, as well as Super Puzzle Fighter 2 Turbo and Hyper Street Fighter 2. All of the games will be available to play online.
