Another wave of gameplay from an unreleased Call of Duty title has surfaced online, sparking fresh curiosity about a canceled game known as Call of Duty: Future Warfare. This game, reportedly in development around 2010, never saw the light of day, but glimpses of its content continue to leak online, providing a exciting look into what might have been.

Several missions from Call of Duty: Future Warfare, codenamed NX1, have appeared online once again. Insider Gaming reported that three separate missions were recently uploaded to YouTube by a user named Generalkidd, reigniting discussions around this lost title.
Despite never being officially announced, reports suggest that the game was far along in its development. According to various sources, the campaign was almost finished before the project was canceled.
A Lost Project by Neversoft
The game was reportedly being developed by Neversoft, a studio best known for its work on the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series. This marked a significant departure for Neversoft, transitioning from skateboarding games to first-person shooters.
The project began after a tumultuous period at Infinity Ward, another Call of Duty developer, where key figures like Jason West and Vince Zampella were let go by Activision. Following their departure, Neversoft was tasked with creating what was described as a futuristic entry in the Call of Duty series.
The Vision for a Futuristic Call of Duty
According to former Neversoft developer Brian Bright, the aim of Call of Duty: Future Warfare was to create a distinctly futuristic experience within the franchise. Bright mentioned that work on the NX1 project started after West and Zampella’s departure, and the team was focused on taking the series in a new direction.
