A recent leak says that Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 and Dune may collaborate, so gamers looking to add some sci-fi flair to their multiplayer games may soon get their way. The information was leaked just days after Todd McFarlane’s evil antihero Spawn was officially announced as an unlockable operator skin for Modern Warfare 2’s newly released Season 6.

The second game in Infinity Ward’s revived shooter franchise, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, will be available on PC and consoles in October 2022. The sequel was largely well-received by critics and players because of a campaign that continues the plot that was introduced in 2019’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare and features cameos from franchise veterans like Captain John Price. But as has been the case with most of the franchise’s previous releases, multiplayer is where most gamers are drawn to the game. Modern Warfare 2 operators and skins are often released to the game, giving players the option to personalize their characters and load-outs for online engagements.

A fresh leak suggests that a well-known sci-fi genre may be making its way into Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, continuing a trend of pop-culture crossovers that has seen the presence of characters ranging from Lara Croft from Tomb Raider to Lilith from Diablo 4 appearing in the game.

A tweet from CharlieIntel hints that Modern Warfare 2 and Dune may be getting a crossover, as was first reported by Dexerto. Data miners allegedly discovered proof of a partnership between the two properties as part of a Dune Part Two: Sardaukar Pack, according to the tweet.

A crossover between the two series had been hinted at by the presence of a Dune loading screen background as part of the Modern Warfare 2 Season 6 update, and if accurate, this leak seems to confirm that. No specifics about the reported Dune Part Two: Sardaukar Pack’s contents were given, but according to Dextero, the add-on is anticipated to cost 2,400 CoD points, which is the equivalent of USD 19.99. A crossover between Modern Warfare 2 and the Dune universe would be appropriate given the abundance of militaristic groups in both series.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
