The 22-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder Brahim Diaz, who has a contract with Real Madrid but currently serving for the Italian club AC Milan on loan, is presently in a little confusing position in choosing his future destination in the club career.

Brahim Diaz was a Malaga youth academy player who later shifted his youth academy to the English Premier League club Manchester City.

After his few appearances for the Sky Blues’ senior side, Diaz moved to Real Madrid in early 2019 for a transfer fee of £15.5 million (€17 million). His latest contract with the Whites will run till 2025.

In the 2020 summer, the Real Madrid midfielder moved to AC Milan on loan for a full season. Later, last summer, he was loaned for another two full seasons in this Italian club with a buyout option. For AC Milan, Diaz has appeared in 79 matches, where he recorded 11 goals and three assists.

In the 2021/22 season, while AC Milan won the Serie A title, Diaz had a busy period in that entire season. Apart from playing in 31 games (including 25 starting XIs) in the last Serie A season, the attacking midfielder also experienced five UEFA Champions League matches and four domestic cup games. He ended the entire season with four goals and four assists.

In the previous season, Diaz scored seven goals and provided four assists in 39 matches for the same club.

    Real Madrid or AC Milan?

There is no doubt that the I Rossoneri are very impressed with this Spanish footballer, as he is now getting regular chances, including in the starting XIs. While Diaz’s latest loan period with this Italian club will end in 2023 summer, the Red and Blacks can even ultimately buy him at the end of the loan period due to having a buyout option.

Meanwhile, if Real Madrid feel impressed with his recent performances, they can bring more opportunities for the Spanish midfielder. Though it will be riskier for Diaz to return to Los Blancos and set up a solid place in the immense competition, he can feel more comfortable due to staying close to his family.

So, the talented Spanish footballer may face a slightly tricky situation choosing between AC Milan and Real Madrid. While he has already impressed Milan, he may have to start in a new way for the most successful European club.
