    BCCI banned Boria Majumdar for two years in regards to Wriddhiman Saha’s case

    The BCCI have banned journalist Boria Majumdar after a controversy with Wriddhiman Saha. Boria Majumdar had threatened Wriddhiman Saha and BCCI after investigating it, proved to be guilty. BCCI banned Boria Majumdar from accreditation and interacting with the players.

    Sanctions against Boria Majumdar

    • Two-year suspension from stadiums.
    • BCCI will request to state associations and ban him from all cricket stadiums.
    • His existing accreditation will be cancelled.
    • BCCI will also inform the ICC of the incident and suspend him from attending any ICC events.
    • Cricketers can’t give any more interviews to him.
    • He won’t be allowed to interview or contact any Indian cricketer.

    Majumdar had allegedly threatened Saha following his axe from the Indian team. Wriddhiman Saha shared the screenshots of this matter.

     “After all of my contributions to Indian cricket… this is what I face from a so-called ‘Respected’ journalist! This is where journalism has gone,” Wriddhiman Saha said in the tweet.

    In the screenshots, Majumdar said, “You did not call. Never again will I interview you. I don’t take insults kindly. And I will remember this.”

    Wriddhiman Saha revealed this to BCCI after which BCCI had to form a three-member committee and investigate the entire incident. BCCI Vice-president Rajeev Shukla, treasurer Arun Dhumal and Prabhtej Bhatia, who is an apex council member interviewed both Saha and Majumdar on the allegations before making the final decision.

    Boria defeated himself and stated that Wriddhiman Saha did this just to gain sympathy from the public. Not only this, he threatened to file a defamation case and posted a video trying to prove his innocence on social media.

    “I had been deeply anguished by what has transpired in the last few weeks and that’s because Wriddhiman Saha has fabricated, doctored and manipulated screenshots and has put it out in the public domain trying to implicate me and garner public sympathy in the process,” Majumdar had said in the video.
