Batgirl is the upcoming American superhero film. It is based on DC Comics’ character. The film is produced by Kristin Burr. Initially, it was announced that the movie named Batgirl is going to be released in cinemas. Now it has come to know that it will finally be going to air on HBO Max as the platform’s new big release following the movie Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
It was initially announced in March 2017, after the departure of The Avengers director Joss Whedon from the project, after one year Warner Bros was forced to announce Christina Hodson as the new screenwriter. Last May we have also come to know that Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah have also joined the project as the directors.
Plot
Initially, the Batgirl was introduced by DC’s comics back in 1961 as Betty Kane, but six years later she was replaced by Barbara Gordon, who operates in Gotham City as the ally of Bruce Wayne, aka the Batman.
“With ‘Batgirl’, we hope to take the audience on a fun ride and see a different side of Gotham,” said producer Kristin Burr back in May.
“Christina’s script is crackling with spirit. Adil and Bilall have excited and joyous energy, which is infectious, making them the perfect filmmakers for this Bat project. And I’m just psyched I get to be part of the DC universe, which is super cool.”
Cast
The movie Batgirl stars Leslie Grace as the Batgirl back in July, who is known for her acting as well as singing. While J.K. Simmons will be reprising his role of Commissioner James Gordon after his appearances in ‘Justice League’ and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
Villain
The only confirmed cast that we have come across is Barbara Gordon and her father, James Gordon, who is the Gotham City Police Commissioner. Several reports have come regarding the villain’s role in this movie.
According to the Illuminerdi, the character that will be introduced in the movie is the DC villain Firefly, who was associated with ‘Batman’ villain Killer Moth – the first villain to ever go against the ‘Batgirl’ in comics.
Release Date
The upcoming movie of DC Extended Universe named Batgirl till now has no specific date has been announced. It is expected that it will be going to release on HBO Max sometime in 2022.
