Interia Sport, a Polish publication, claims that Barcelona and Bayern Munich sensation Robert Lewandowski may sign a contract deal ahead of a possible summer transfer.
Since the summer of 2014, the 33-year-old has been with Die Roten and has accomplished great things with the German giants. However, the great striker is approaching the conclusion of his contract with the Bavarians and is rumored to be looking for a new challenge.
Three Year Contract with Lewandowski
Barcelona has been pursuing the signing of the Poland captain as they look to add a new, reliable goal scorer to Xavi Hernandez’s project. Pini Zahavi, his agent, has met with the Catalans, and the Catalans have received encouraging feedback from those talks.
It is now stated that the discussions have resulted in a contract agreement. According to Interia Sport, Lewandowski and Barcelona have reached an agreement on a three-year multi-million-dollar contract ahead of a possible transfer later this summer.
Several other European powers, including Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City, are said to have made approaches to the ace goalscorer. Lewandowski, on the other hand, appears to have decided to join Barça.
Barcelona and Lewandowski
According to reports, Lewandowski demanded a three-year contract from his suitors, and Barcelona has now offered him the same. To complete the transaction before the start of the next season, the Blaugrana will have to negotiate a transfer fee with Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions want him to remain longer. However, with the striker reportedly looking for a move elsewhere, they will be forced to sell him or face losing their greatest asset for nothing in 2023.
If this is true, Lewandowski will be a huge addition to Barcelona. Despite being 33 years old, the Polish striker has shown no signs of slowing down this season, scoring 46 goals thus far. A three-year contract may be considered a gamble, but if Lewandowski maintains his present form, Barça will benefit immensely from his signing.
