    Barbora Krejcikova defeats Pavlyuchenkova to lift the Women’s French Open 2021 title

    Barbora Krejcikova has won her first Grand Slam Single titles at the French Open 2021 by defeating Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in tough 3 sets i.e. 6-1,2-6,6-4 and finally become the first Czech woman to win the Roland Garros Singles after 40 years. After Hana Mandlikovam’s win in 1981, it is the first victory.

    The 25-years-old Krejcikova ranked 33 in the world. She has won both single and double titles in Paris. She won with her partner Katerina Siniakova in the doubles on Sunday.

    Krejcikova said that she has dedicated her victory to her mentor, the former Wimbledon champion Jana Novotna who died of cancer at the age of 49 in 2017.

    “I cannot believe what just happened, I cannot believe that I actually won a Grand Slam,” an emotional Krejcikova said on court.

    “I was going through a really hard time when Jana was passing away, I was most of the time her, and I really wanted to experience this because I thought it’s just going to make me really strong. Pretty much her last words were, ‘Just enjoy and just try to win a Grand Slam. I know that from somewhere she’s looking out for me and all of this, what happened these two weeks is because she is just looking after me probably and I just want to really thank her.

    “It’s amazing that I had a chance to meet her and that she was such an inspiration for me. I just really miss her but I hope she’s happy right now and I’m extremely happy.”

    She was ranked 114 in singles and she made her first run fourth round in Paris eight months ago and now the Roland Garros Championship.

    It is the Sixth straight year Paris has crowned a first-time Grand Slam Women Single Championship.

    She has made her fifth main draw singles at a slam, after that she dropped serve in the opening game of the context before contesting to take the next six games and hold a one-set lead within 30 minutes.

    Although Pavlyuchenkova beat back with a 5-1 gap in the second set, finally Krejcikova cut the deficit to 2-5 and won the title.
