To revitalize the state-run telecom carrier BSNL and make it competitive in the crucial sector, the Center approved a Rs 1.64 lakh crore package in July of this year. Vaishnaw stated that they must now be present with our clients. He added: “Customer is God. Customer is king. Whatever problems customers face, they should become our problem, and solve them immediately. Focus on your customers.”

In comparison to private sector competitors Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea, which control the majority of the 1.20 billion users, BSNL now holds a market share of close to 9.92%.

As per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) figures, by the end of April 30, 2022, the commercial telecom service providers owned 89.79% of the market share of wireless subscribers, while BSNL and MTNL, the two-public sector telcos, had a market share of only 10.21%.

Earlier, Vaishnaw requested that the 5G network rollout begin concurrently with the ambitious 4G network rollout so that the telco could serve its 20 crores 4G and 5G consumers.

He claims that the 5G non-standalone (NSA) core network, which is anticipated to be ready by the end of August, is progressing at the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT), a state-owned telecom R&D company. The domestic core equipment may be ready for deployment in 2023.
