With only 4 days left from now, the excitement for Tokyo Olympics is at its peak. India will play a significant role in this summer Olympics, across many sports. They are sending a total of 119 members to showcase their talents. This is the largest contingent they ever sent to the Olympic Games. The Indian athletes will compete in 18 sports. This time they are taking part in much more games than they did in the last Olympics.
Stats on the Indian Mass going to the Olympics
The IOA president, Narinder Batra said on Tuesday that overall, 228 strong contingents are going to the Tokyo Olympics from India, which includes 119 athletes. Of these 119 athletes, there are 67 male participants and 52 females, the president added during an interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Olympic bound-athletes. He further said in the virtual interaction that, by sending a large number of quality members to the event, India will fight for 85 medal events.
The present Indian contingent who are going to the Olympic Games is among the young generation. Among these 119 athletes, who will represent their nation in various sports, 82 athletes will be making their debut in this event as well.

Some of the strong contenders to win a medal are, Mary Kom from Boxing, PV Sindhu from Badminton, Saurabh Chaudhary and Manu Bhaker from shooting, Mirabai Chanu from weightlifting, Bajrang Punia and Vinesh Phogat from wrestling, etc.
The Olympic Games for this year will start from July 23rd and go on till August 8th, and will gift us many exciting games, and moments. The Indian fans are eager to see their athletes and will cheer for them via TV and Virtual fan walls.
