Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is an upcoming American superhero film. It is based on DC Comics featuring the character Aquaman. The film is produced by DC Films, The Safran Company, and Atomic Monster Productions and it is distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. It is directed by James Wan and the screenplay was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. This film is the sequel of the Aquaman (2018) and it is the thirteenth film in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU).
The Aquaman’s upcoming film’s release date has been made public. Once again Jason Mamoa is all set to return as the main hero of the film. Although the film also presents other high-profile actors who will also involve in this film.
The film is all set to release in 2022 when we can expect the box office is anticipating an upsurge in ticket sales after a disappointing 2021 which saw members of the public still show caution when congregating in public spaces indoors.
Filming Status
The initial principal photography has already begun in London from 28th June 2021, while no trailer has been released for the film till now.
Nothing much we have get to know about the details of the plot at this stage, but it is understood that the script has been taken from an idea Momoa himself which he had during the break between the first film and the start of production on the second iteration.
Cast
The film Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom stars Jason Mamoa as the lead character who will present himself once again in an attractive way, mixing chiselled good looks, a quite spectacular beard, and a unique synonymity with his character on his return to the big screen.
We will also Patrick Wilson who will be playing the role of King Orm, while Dolph Lundgren is all set to portray the role of King Nereus. It also features Temuera Morrison as Tom Curry, although there has been a degree of controversy regarding the choice of Amber Heard to play Mera.
Heard has been embroiled in a legal battle with former husband, Johnny Depp, over his alleged treatment of her and the subsequent revelations that she had been abusive within the marriage.
Release Date
The film is all set to release publically just at the time of Christmas, with an initial release date of 16th December 2022 and is all set to premiere for the first time.
The film is going to release just after four years of the first release of the Aquaman film which was released on 12th December 2018.
