Apple is believed to be readying an entry-level 11th-generation iPad, with Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman revealing the device has “begun production.” With a forecasted arrival coinciding with the likes of the new iPhone SE 4 and iPad Air next spring.
Apple to Launch iPad 11 Gen
Gurman shared in his latest Power On newsletter that the next iteration of the iPad will stick to its 2022 design for the most part, however, it is expected to bring improved performance over anything Apple offers today. That update comes from a previous Gurman prediction, in which he touted the arrival of Apple Intelligence features on an iPhone SE by March 2025 at the earliest followed by an entry-level iPad later that same year.
The current 10th-gen iPad uses the A14 chip that first appeared in the iPhone 12. There is every reason to believe that the iPad will come with A16, which has also been used for 15 series. Compared to Apple Intelligence features, an iPad could need the more powerful A17 Pro or even the A18 for optimal performance.
At the beginning of this month, Apple debuted the current iPad mini together with support for the $40 per year subscription service in a separate announcement. The company has also lowered the price of last year’s iPad 10 as well and will no longer be including a charger with the device it sells in Europe. These changes suggest that the new iPad may not be included in Apple’s announcements scheduled for this week.
Overall, the anticipated entry-level iPad appears to be shaping up as a notable update to the current lineup, retaining familiar aesthetics while potentially offering significant upgrades under the hood. As spring approaches, further details about the new iPad and its features are expected to emerge, providing insight into how it will fit within Apple’s expanding product ecosystem.
