Apple is working on new iterations of the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, but a refresh is still some time away, so we don’t know much about what to anticipate. Apple recently altered the appearance with the introduction of the M1 Pro and M1 Max devices in 2021, and the business frequently sticks with the same style for several years.
Apple’s unibody design is still made of metal, but the shape has been changed to be flatter and less curved at the bottom. The devices have two speaker grilles on either side of the keyboard, a huge Force Touch Trackpad, and an all-black keyboard.
The most recent MacBook Pro models have notch-mounted 1080p webcams, mini-LED panels with ProMotion technology, and thin 3.5mm bezels at the top and bottom of the display.
There will be internal modifications, even though we don’t anticipate any changes to the outside given that Apple is reportedly considering using M2 Pro and M2 Max CPUs in the improved MacBook Pro versions. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the M2 Max chip will feature up to a 12-core CPU, an increase from the M1 Max’s 10-core CPU, as well as up to a 38-core GPU, an increase from the GPU’s current limit of 32 cores.
The M2 Max will support unified memory of up to 64GB. Although Gurman withheld information about the M2 Pro, it is anticipated that it will be less potent than the M2 Max. Apple is developing OLED screens for next gadgets, including MacBook Pro iterations.
Some rumours said Apple might release OLED panels as early as 2022, but more current reports claim OLED technology won’t be available until 2024, making the 2023 upgrade appear unlikely.
There have also been reports that Apple is developing Face ID for the Mac, and the more expensive MacBook Pro models would be ideal candidates for the technology. However, there have been no specific rumours that the Face ID technology will be included in the MacBook Pro upgrade.
In October 2021, Apple released the M1 Pro and M1 Max 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models. Although Macs occasionally receive yearly updates, it’s not anticipated that this year would see any such updates. We might not see new models this year since Gurman has stated that Apple does not intend to update the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models until 2023.
