The Memorial Day weekend says Tom Cruise’s Top Gun Maverick created a new record in the box office, as tickets were stormed out, and the movie theatres were jam-packed. Top Gun Maverick which is the sequel of Tom Cruise’s Top Gun, where he made a sensational return after 36 years grossed a total of 156 million dollars in the first four days of the movie release.
Public’s Curiosity on Top Gun Maverick
The movie talks about a mysterious enemy facing defeat, however, it remains unclear who actually it is. The movie surpassed the success of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, which achieved a huge greeting in 2007. On that occasion, the movie grossed a total of 153 million dollars taking a long weekend’s time and was the best debut during a Memorial Day edition for a long time.
Fast forward, 15 years from then at present, Top Gun Maverick broke that record to emerge as the new record holder. Reports also state that Top Gun Maverick had grossed 124 million dollars in the first three days. The movie has been shown at a total of 4,732 North American theatres, with which the movie became the widest release in history.

However Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Doctor Strange: Multiverse of Madness are still the highest-grossing films since the theatres reopened in the post-COVID phase, gathering 260 million dollars and 187 million dollars respectively.
