Marvel’s Avengers has been thoroughly defeated in the Gaming World

Marvel’s Avenger’s official support will end on September 30, 2023. After that, the game will still be playable both solo and online, but no further updates, including minor bug fixes, will be provided. Crystal Dynamics, on the other hand, has confirmed that Marvel’s Avengers will conclude with update 2.8 on March 31. There will be no new content added to the game, all cosmetics will be made available for free, and the real-money Marketplace will be closed. Any shop credits that have not been spent by that time will be converted into in-game resources.

Fans of Marvel’s Avengers are taking to the internet to criticise the game after developer Crystal Dynamics released its most expensive DLC pack yet. The announcement came just days after Marvel’s Avengers announced that post-launch support would be phased out, leaving many players feeling duped and betrayed by the studio.

The developer’s “MCU Outfit Pack” adds ten costumes from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Marvel’s Avengers and is the most expensive DLC pack in the game’s short history, costing $80. Crystal Dynamics announced the end of post-game support for Marvel’s Avengers just days after the DLC’s release, with all previous cosmetics becoming free to all players on March 31, 2023. Despite the strong player desire for additional gameplay content to extend the game’s lifespan, much of the previous DLC for the game has been cosmetic.

The move could be interpreted as the developers’ final cynical cash grab. Crystal Dynamics has previously been chastised for Marvel’s Avengers’ pay-to-win XP boosts, so it would be consistent with their business strategy for the game. Despite the end of post-launch support, players will still be able to play single and multiplayer, and the free cosmetics may entice more players who have yet to play Marvel’s Avengers.

The overall failure of Marvel’s Avengers was unexpected, as it had been widely anticipated prior to its release in 2020.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is the highest-grossing film franchise of all time, and players expected the game to serve as a foundation for future superhero stories. Because of the game’s lukewarm reception upon its initial release, it has been in a constant battle to win back fans, putting it in the position it is in today.

Plans to wrap up the game have accelerated, according to Miller Ross, the most well-known Marvel’s Avengers leaker and source of the original 2023 shutdown rumours. This is largely due to the departure of Avengers lead designer Brian Waggoner, who was embroiled in controversy last year after a series of racially insensitive tweets were discovered. Crystal Dynamics initially simply removed him as a public spokesperson, but he has now left the company. His position will not be filled, and the majority of the Avengers development team has now moved over to work on the new Tomb Raider game.
