Indian pacer Umran Malik put up a very impressive show in the first and second T20 against Sri Lanka in Mumbai. he the second game he scalped 3 wickets giving 48 runs. He has played only 5 T20I matches so far and this was his best bowling figure. He has a unique bowling action that helps him generate extra pace and seam movement. His deliveries are diverse.
Against Sri Lanka, Malik used his pace skills to beat the batters and his bouncers were very effective too that restricting runs from the opposite team.
n addition to his skill with the ball, Malik also showed great mental toughness and determination on the field. He never lost his focus and kept attacking the batsmen. This attitude helped him claim crucial wickets at key moments in the match. Malik took 3 crucial wickets for the team.
Though he leaked 48 runs in four overs but he scalped three wickets too, making this performance one of his best so far. Time has come, that the BCCI selectors to take him very seriously. His talent and dedication are going to take him far in his cricketing career. His mental toughness is to be something applauded.
On the second day, he picked important wickets for Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Charith Asalanka, and WAnindu Hasaranga in the game. He bowled the former one at a 147kph delivery and Hasaranga at 140kph delivery. Throughout his spells in the game, the bowler frequently bowled at 140 kph or faster. In the first T20I, when he recorded 155 kph to remove Sri Lanka skipper Dasun Shanaka, he set the record for the fastest Indian bowler in history.
The first T20 was won by India ad the second one was won by Sri Lanka. The final T20 which will be held on January 7, will decide the winner of this series.
