Argentina beats France in penalty shootout and lifts the FIFA World Cup

Hard work pays off, and dreams really come true, and the same happened with Argentina in the Qatar World Cup Final, where they defeated France after a mouth-watering thriller in the penalty shootout. Though in the first half. it seemed like Argentina will seal the victory with ease, but dangerous France was able to equalize in the second half multiple times, to get the match to the penalty shootouts. However, despite the excellent efforts of France, it was LM10 who laughed the last laugh.

The Match

The match started with a good pace from both sides, and the teams made a ball possession more or less at a similar rate. Though Argentina got their first chance of scoring in the 23rd minute, and Lionel Messi, the legendary Argentine, didn’t miss the chance of that penalty. Soon, Di Maria doubled their lead when the scored his first goal of the match in the 36th minute. The first half went, and France was the one who dominated the second lead. Mbappe doubled their score by scoring their first goal in the 80th minute and soon in the 81st.

The match went in the additional time, where Messi gave a lead again, but Mbappe equalized again and made his hat trick in the match. In the penalty shootout, Argentina scored 4 out of 4, whereas France was able to net 2 goals. Though Kylian Mbappe’s performance was sensational, Messi’s fairytale ended on a positive note.

Argentina lifting their 3rd World Cup

After Mario Kempes in 1978 and Diego Maradona in 1986, Lionel Messi gifted Argentina their 3rd world cup. It has been a dream come true and indeed a moment of joy for Lionel Messi, who secured this achievement in his last world cup, and that too, defeating a strong contender like France.
