T20 World Cup 2022 for blind: India defeats Bangladesh and bags their third title

The T20 World Cup for the blind came to an end as India defeated Bangladesh and won their third title. The men in blue won by 120 runs at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, December 17.

India posted 277 runs losing just two wickets in 20 overs. Sunil Ramesh scored 136 off 63 and Ajay Kumar Reddy posted an unbeaten 100 off 50 deliveries. Together, they have a stand of 247 runs for the third wicket in the finale. On the other hand, the defending champions lost their first two wickets scoring just 29 runs.

Bangladesh could pile up only 157/3 and lose the game by 120 runs. Indian bowlers Lalit Meena and Ajay Kumar grabbed one wicket each. Earlier Bangladesh disrupted India’s top order by giving them a double blow in the fourth over. He dismissed Venkareswara at 28 runs. Salman again scalped Lalit Meena’s wicket and reduced India to 29/2. Ramesh and Reddy took on Bangladesh’s bowling attack and pulled up India. This was India’s third T20 World Cup victory after 2012 and 2017 respectively.

With a boundary, Sunil Ramesh scored his third century of the competition. In the innings’ penultimate over, Ajay hit his milestone. With 24 boundaries and one six, Sunil scored 136 runs off of 63 balls.

Salman had partnerships of 42 runs with Abid for the second wicket and 48 runs with Arif Ullah for the third wicket. Arif Ullah scored 22 while Abid scored 18. Salman was still unbeaten after 77 balls. With 425 runs from 7 innings, he also ended the tournament as the leading run-scorer.

Thawar Chand Gehlot, the honourable governor of Karnataka, gave out prizes to the winners and runners-up.
