BBL: Sydney Thunder records the lowest total and gets all out in 15

Sydney Thunder got all out for 15 in 35 deliveries and they recorded the lowest score in the men’s T20 history. Five batters including Alex Hales got out for zero and Adelaide Strikers won by 124 runs in the Big Bash. Sydney Thunder was bowled out by Adelaide Strikers for 15 runs in 5.5 overs. The previous lowest total was 21 runs recorded by Turkey against the Czech Republic in 2019.

The Thunders were utterly humiliated after getting out at such a pathetic score. Their highest scorer was Doggett who smashed a boundary. The team felt helpless to Adelaide’s bowling attack.

Before they came to bat, the Strikers piled up a modest total but it became a nightmare for the opposition. Strikers just like the last season relied on big shots for a fast start.

Chris Lynn and Colin de Grandhomme were added to the lineup by the strikers, but they first had to help the side recover from being down 32 for 3 in the sixth over. Particularly Lynn restrained his aggressive nature after escaping a strong lbw appeal from Gurinder Sandhu on his first ball faced. Midway through the inning, they made the decision to move quickly, and de Grandhomme did just that by hitting two sixes off Chris Green’s spin before Lynn got comfortable. Lynn got dismissed in the 13th over and Grandhomme got out in the same over.

The Thunder showed one of the worst batting performances in the history of this tournament. It will be difficult for coach Trevor Bayliss to recover from this nightmare after such a humiliation that will garner international attention.

The team started their BBL campaign with a victory against Melbourne Stars this game will be lowering the confidence of the batters in the remaining games.
