Morocco confirmed with the club football World Cup hosting rights from February 1 to 11

On Friday, FIFA awarded Morocco with the hosting rights for the next Club World Cup in February. It’ll be an expanded 32-team edition, all set to get ahead in 2025.

European champion Real Madrid, South American champion Flamengo, and the first CONCACAF Champions League winner from the United States, Seattle Sounders, will appear in the traditional seven-team tournament from 1st February to 11th of the same month.

Morocco confirmed with hosting rights for Club World Cup

Following Morocco’s excellent run in the Qatar World Cup, the country will now host the next World football event within six weeks, as decided by FIFA’s ruling council.

It is going to be one of the last seven-team editions for continental tournaments, with an expanded, month-long championship decided to be launched in 2025.

“Making it really like a World Cup,” said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

In Morocco, Casablanca should host games with the city ready to give two teams in the 10-day encounter, which features continental champions from each of the six confederations in World Football.

Wydad won Africa’s Champions League last season, including the Moroccan league. The place FIFA reserves for the host’s domestic champion should get back to league runner-up Raja. Both are Casablanca-based teams where the 67,000 capacity Stade Mohammed V is the possible venue for some of the eight club World Cup championship games.

Hosted events earlier too

Morocco also conducted Club World Cups in the consecutive years of 2013 and 2014. The respective winners were Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Ever since its revival in the current format, only European and South American teams have won the club World Cup tournaments.

The 2025 launch is planned and might be hosted in the United States and serve as a test event for the next 2026 World Cup, where the hosts will be the US, Canada, and Mexico.
