Former England and Tottenham star Aaron Lenon hangs up his boots at 35

Premier League star Aaron Lenon declared his retirement from football on Tuesday, 15th November. The ex-Tottenham legendary winger took to his Twitter account and shared an emotional note: 

“I have finally decided that the time is right to hang my boots up, having weighed up my options I didn’t feel any were right for me and my young family.” 

The farewell note left fans emotional. It further read, 

“I loved every moment of it. Football means so much to me and always will do. I don’t think I even realized how much until I started considering this retirement, it has been everything and more.”

Aaron Lenon bids goodbye to football

Aaron Lenon’s career kickstarted around nineteen years back. He made his senior debut in the Premier League for Leeds United in the year 2003. He was just sixteen at that time and the youngest ever to appear in the league at that span. 

Lenon was amazing there and moved to Tottenham Hotspur, gradually becoming iconic there with 364 appearances. After a long tenure at the North London Club for 10 years, Lenon switched to Premiere League ultimate rivals Everton. 

This spell wasn’t that impressive and after three years he was sold to Burnely, just before the unexpected move to Turkish outfit Kayserispor on a free transfer. After his tenure there for a season, he returned to Burnely again on a free transfer.

His priceless moments

Aaron Lenon had a scintillating Premier League career and had some great moments that few players fail to achieve in an entire lifetime. Some of these best moments are: 

  • Youngest to feature in the competition during his Premier League debut. 
  • Debut for the England national team and achieved 21 caps for his country. 
  • In the 2007/08 campaign, he had a massive role in Tottenham’s 2-1 win against Chelsea in English League Cup Final, helping his team lift their first trophy in nine years. 

The outstanding Premier League performer and star winger will leave the fans hurt upon his retirement.
