T20 World Cup 2022: Flop XI of the tournament

England emerged as victors as they defeated Pakistan over 5 wickets in this edition’s T20 World Cup. Sam Curran became the Player of the Tournament with his bowling performances. From the Indian team, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Suryakumar Yadav showed wonderful batting performances in the tournament. There are cricketers who couldn’t perform up to the mark in this edition and disappointed the fans. In this article, we’ll discuss about them.

Rohit Sharma (India)

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma is going through a lean patch in captaincy and in batting. He was subjected to a lot of hate and scrutiny after India’s shameful defeat against England in the semifinal. His decisions as a captain were ineffective. As a batter, he could only score 116 runs in six matches at an average of 19.33

KL Rahul (India)

KL Rahul is considered to be one of the top batters of India but he failed miserably to perform at the big matches in T20 World Cup 2022. He scored fifty-plus against Bangladesh and Zimbabwe but could muster only 4,9,9, and 5 against Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa and England respectively.

David Warner (Australia)

The Australian cricketer is one of the most renowned batters but his performance was disappointing. He played four games in the tournaments, mustering only 44 runs at an average of 11. Being an opener, he struggled to get good runs.

Mitchell Marsh (Australia)

Mitchell Marsh had given a wonderful performance in T20 World Cup 2021. He was batting at Number 3 but unfortunately couldn’t leave a good impression. He scored only four matches piling up 106 runs at an average of 26.50.

Mustafizur Rahman (Bangladesh)

The Bangladeshi bowler underperformed with the ball, especially in the middle overs, and could take only three wickets in five games at an average of 37.33. Although he was economical at 5.60 he couldn’t scalp a lot of wickets.

Temba Bavuma (South Africa)

The South African skipper was out of form before T20 WC 2022. He scored only good runs against Pakistan which was 36 off 19 deliveries. In five matches he could only score 70 runs.

Jimmy Neeshan (New Zealand)

Everyone had high expectations from Jimmy Neeshan as he was among the prominent names that took New Zealand to the finale. The batter couldn’t live up to his potential and mustered only 53 runs in five matches at an average of 17.66.

Axar Patel (India)

Axar Patel got a chance to be on the team due to Ravindra Jadeja’s absence. He played five games in the tournament and could pick up only three wickets. He played as a lower-order batter but could score only 9 runs.

Shakib Al Hasan (Bangladesh)

Bangladeshi skipper Shakib Al Hasan has experience of playing in Australia but this time he failed to contribute to the team. He could score 44 runs in 5 games his top score being 23. He picked six wickets in five games at an expensive economy rate of 8.78.

Mitchell Starc (Australia)

Mitchell Starc failed to leave his mark in this tournament. Against Ireland, he had a good performance where he gave out 43 runs and picked up two wickets. He had a maximum of three wickets at an economy rate of 8.50. Due to his poor performance, he was dropped from the match the Aussies played against Afghanistan.

Kagiso Rabada (South Africa)

Kagiso Rabada is one of the best white-ball pacers in South Africa. His pace and accuracy are much appreciated however, he didn’t do well in the tournament. He was wicket-less against India. Against Pakistan, he had a pathetic figure of 1/44 and 0/37. In both games, South Africa was defeated.
