T20 World Cup 2022: Jos Buttler gets furious after the England-Australia washout

In T20 2022’s Super 12 stage, rain ruined the plan for England-Australia as the match was canceled before one innings could take place. The first game of the day was also called off due to the same reason between Afghanistan and Ireland.

Jos Buttler was a bit frustrated with the news but then backed this decision, saying that the clash between Australia and England didn’t happen since the conditions didn’t favour.

“They [the umpires] had some big concerns and, I think, rightly so, Buttler said, after a series of inspections had led to an abandonment at 8.49 pm local time. “The outfield is very wet, there are some areas within the 30-yard circle which were not fit to play. As much as we all want to play cricket, it has to be safe and it certainly wasn’t that.”- he said.

The second game of the day between Australia and England was a much-anticipated one. The fans of both teams appeared in good numbers but the rain had something else planned for them. The game had a lot of anticipation, especially given how the team is currently playing, and it would have been a great place to see who would go to the knockout rounds.

The rain caused too much of problems for the tournament this year as it led to calling off the two games in the past two days. Before the contest, the rain stopped but the outfield was wet. It was not possible for the players to perform and would have been risky for them

Due to the calling off of the game, New Zealand’s chances of progressing into the semi-finals from group 1 has already been increased. Australia is yet to play against Ireland and Afghanistan in the remaining matches and will try for a big victory.

England will be facing the table-toppers New Zealand and Asian champions Sri Linka in the last two games. The fans will expect the game to take place as they were not very happy with the scheduling of the games. They demanded a reschedule of the England-Australia clash.
